Cappuccino with Simone and Maximilian

How to work in an ever-changing field and keep your passion up – learn how Simone and Maximilian from our Environment, Health and Safety team do this every day.

Whether they are working from home or in the office, Simone Neppach and Maximilian Dettner always begin their day with a Cappuccino and then jump straight into their first meetings. Both are part of our Global Environment, Health and Safety team, based in Germany. For them, work sometimes starts extra-early due to time zones: “A big part of our tasks is checking in with Fresenius Kabi sites around the world. Together, we discuss ways to save energy and meet our sustainability goals. First thing in the morning, we often talk to our colleagues in Asia,” Maximilian says.

Being there for your colleagues around the world, even at uncommon times, is just one aspect of their ever-flexible work. “Sustainability is at the top of the public agenda. It develops and expands rapidly. From one day to the next, we can have new topics coming up,” Simone explains. “From internal audits to the reporting of sustainability metrics to goal-setting for the future of Fresenius Kabi, we are like an internal start-up for change,” Maximilian adds.

But how do they keep up? “We are a team of idealists,” Maximilian says. “There is an incredible drive here.” “Many of the topics we work on, such as fighting antimicrobial resistance, have immediate effect on our world,” Simone explains. “It can be challenging, but as a team we share the passion of driving these developments. That’s how we care for life.”

We asked them a few questions:

What is your favorite part about working for Fresenius Kabi?

Simone: The intercultural and interdisciplinary exchange with colleagues around the world who are passionate about Fresenius Kabi’s sustainable development, building a great and engaged community.

Max: My favorite part is working with so many different colleagues from all over the world. My daily work is a melting pot of so many different mentalities and strategies.

What is special about working in your team?

Simone: Our team has a great spirit. We are working together in a supportive atmosphere, and new colleagues are easily integrated. We are highly motivated, full of ideas and open minded to improve existing processes as well as to tackle new challenges.

Max: The best word to describe our team is wonderful. We are a bunch of likeminded people, passionate about our jobs and caring for this world. It feels so good to work in such an atmosphere where you know you can rely on your colleagues any time.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Simone: I love eating and being active – a lucky combination! I always feel the urge to spend my time in nature: hiking, bicycling or simply sunbathing. Besides that, I have played badminton in my hometown club for over 20 years. Whenever possible, I love to celebrate life with my family and friends – and there are many reasons!

Max: I love to be active in my spare time, I go to the gym, go hiking or cycling. I also love being creative. In the last year I painted a picture (a big neon banana!) for my kitchen and designed a lamp out of wood for my living room.
