Our sustainability approach and ambitions

We are committed to continuously advancing our sustainability efforts, aligning with market demands, and making an impact on society and our planet.

Our targets, measures, and progress are detailed on the following pages. We invite you to explore and join us on this journey toward a more sustainable future.

Improving lives through access, education, and support

At Fresenius Kabi, our mission “Committed to Life” drives  everything we do. We are dedicated to advancing global health by prioritizing patient well-being and empowering employees.

Providing access to affordable, high-quality healthcare

We are committed to improving patients' quality of life worldwide by providing access to high-quality, affordable medicines and innovative healthcare solutions. Our growing portfolio includes pharmaceuticals - generics and biosimilars - that offer cost-effective alternatives to originator drugs, and our MedTech and Nutrition products that establish a solid foundation for patient care and recovery.

In 2024 our products reached 450 million patients – 200 million patients in Europe alone.

Strengthening supply chains to enhance patient care

Ensuring that our products are available is vital to patient care. We continuously invest in our global manufacturing network to maintain a reliable and resilient supply of life-saving therapies. By strengthening our supply infrastructure, we help to prevent disruptions and enhance healthcare delivery worldwide.

Angels for Change: Commitment against drug shortages

Angels for Change is taking a strong stand in the fight against drug shortages: The pilot initiative "Project GOLD" (Generic Oncology Lifesaving Drugs), is establishing a resilient supply of six essential cancer medications. Angels for Change Together with other partners Fresenius will create an emergency reserve to ensure that physicians can provide patients with necessary medications  and stable care even in critical situations.

Additionally, Fresenius Kabi USA was honored with the "2024 Drug Shortage Guardian Award."
The company stood out for its outstanding efforts during the chemotherapy shortage of 2023. Karen Twardzik and Danielle Gross, two Fresenius employees, also received individual awards for their extraordinary support in critical supply situations. Their leadership and tireless work exceeded their normal responsibilities, ensuring life-saving medicines reached patients in need, even during dire shortages.

Angels for Change remains a driving force, supported by groundbreaking projects like Project GOLD and close collaboration with stakeholders in the pharmaceutical supply chain.

Expanding our social impact by promoting research and medical education

Health education is a fundamental aspect of our commitment, as we provide healthcare professionals, caregivers and patients with the knowledge to make informed decisions and achieve better health outcomes. Through awareness campaigns, and community engagement, we actively contribute to advancing science and public health.

Combating disease-related malnutrition with clinical nutrition

Fresenius Kabi offers a wide range of clinical nutrition products to address malnutrition and cater to the specific needs of vulnerable patients, including those with cancer or critical illnesses. The company conducts extensive research, participating in around 30 studies and supporting scientific advancements through the JUMPStart program and partnerships like the ESICM Fresenius Kabi Clinical Nutrition Award. In 2024, the award recognized a groundbreaking study on the effects of cyclical enteral nutrition and ketogenic fasting on postoperative delirium, emphasizing the importance of aligning nutrition with the body’s natural rhythms to improve patient outcomes. This innovative approach reflects Fresenius Kabi’s commitment to enhancing care and advancing medical education.
