Clearly, patients can only benefit from our biosimilar therapies if they’re available and affordable as needed. Building from our broader Fresenius Kabi manufacturing and commercial infrastructure in over 100 countries1, our vertically integrated value chain makes this possible. This enables us to drive the development process, from R&D through to manufacturing, supply chain and commercialization, and remain committed to uncompromising product and service quality, efficacy, speed and safety.
Our investment in mAbxience has been core to strengthening our pipeline and enhancing our biologic production capabilities and capacity. We’re now able to master manufacturing process technology transfers and move from development to drug manufacturing faster, at lower cost and with more flexibility than ever.
We have invested heavily over five years to expand our internal drug substance and drug product manufacturing capacity and embedded automation and lean-manufacturing good practices. These have enabled us to achieve a sustainable 33% reduction in end-to-end lead times, an average increase by +10% in conversion yields, and deliver as much as 50% savings in some areas.2 Our internal manufacturing capacity including mAbxience, is completed by a strong external network built mainly around a few strategic supply partners. Along the improvement program, we have also identified and implemented further performance improvement plans with our contract manufacturing organizations.
We have an ambitious program in place over the next 12 months to transform our supply chain to improve its speed, reliability, and agility to better respond to biosimilar market dynamics and our customers' expectations across the world. An agile, responsive supply chain is critical in tender-led European markets, in particular. It’s also accelerating our growth in the U.S., and enabling us to scale launches globally as we aim to double our portfolio by 2030.2
