Helping clinicians deliver infusion care

Infusion is a critical treatment pathway in hospitals, medical practices, and homecare. Connected infusion technology combines infusion pumps, software, disposables, monitoring tools and data integration capabilities to support simplified, safe and efficient delivery of intravenous (IV) therapies. Fresenius Kabi’s connected infusion solutions are designed to help streamline workflows, support medication safety and enable the delivery of a broad range of infusion therapies across hospitals, clinics and homecare settings where accurate medication and fluid delivery is essential.

Intravenous (IV) infusion therapy is a core component of healthcare delivery. Aging populations, rising incidence of cancer and chronic diseases and increased use of biologic medicines are driving growing need for infusions, with up to 80% of hospital patients requiring infusion during a hospital stay.1 Safely administering infusions, ensuring correct medications and dosing, monitoring patients receiving IV therapy and ensuring devices are maintained requires coordination among multiple people, including physicians, nurses, pharmacists and IT professionals.

Modern, intuitive, connected devices can help simplify workflows for healthcare providers and safeguard patient care. We design solutions – including infusion devices, software and equipment – to help streamline daily practice, reduce waste and support standardization and data-driven decisions, with a portfolio of products that aims to support clinical outcomes across the continuum of care.

    • Infusion pump systems: volumetric pumps, syringe pumps, pump sets and infusion software solutions for a range of care environments
    • Ambulatory pumps: mobile infusion systems designed for patients receiving IV therapy outside the hospital environment
    • Sterile disposables: single-use products used to prepare and deliver fluids and medications
    • Anesthesia monitoring: technologies providing insights into depth of anesthesia and nociception, enabling more personalized anesthesia management

We collaborate with healthcare providers, clinical staff and patients to understand their needs and tailor device and software upgrades, enabling healthcare systems to flow today and tomorrow.

Advanced infusion technology designed for modern care environments

The Ivenix Infusion System is designed to support accurate, consistent delivery of medications and fluids across a wide range of clinical settings. Only available in the U.S., the system’s unique pneumatic flow-control technology uses air pressure to enable precise, stable and responsive delivery of IV medications – self-adjusting when conditions change and particularly helpful where dosing accuracy directly affects patient safety and treatment outcomes. Ivenix is designed to simplify programming and monitoring, with a clear interface and large display to help clinicians assess infusion status quickly and efficiently.

Agilia devices include volumetric and syringe pumps for fluid, medicine, and anesthesia administration. With intuitive programming and clear monitoring displays, the portfolio helps support patient safety and operational efficiency. Combined with connectivity and data management capabilities, Agilia solutions support standardization and interoperability across critical care, perioperative, oncology, emergency, and general hospital environments.

Exelia infusion solutions combine volumetric and syringe pumps within a modular platform that can be configured to meet specific needs in critical care. Centralized visualization of infusion information, automated infusion relay capabilities, and advanced pressure monitoring enable medication management and clinical decision-making. Optimized alarm management and configurable therapy profiles help clinicians in critical care, neonatal, pediatric, and other hospital settings.

Medication safety supported by drug libraries

Fresenius Kabi infusion technology solutions include integrated drug library functionality and dose guidance tools, providing clinicians with access to medication parameters during pump programming. These features are intended to support adherence to established protocols and help reduce the risk of errors.

    Total Intravenous Anesthesia (TIVA) delivery

For anesthesia applications, advanced syringe pump technologies can support TIVA and Target-Controlled Infusion (TCI) workflows. The Agilia SP TIVA pump supports individualized anesthesia administration across adult and pediatric patients, with guided workflows that provide step-by-step infusion setup and support multiple modes. Clear displays can help clinicians monitor infusion status, drug delivery parameters, and target concentrations during procedures. Data visualization tools may provide access to infusion histories, key infusion parameters, target concentration changes, supporting clinical decision-making, and providing improved visibility for anesthesia delivery.

    Connectivity and workflow integration

Our infusion and anesthesia systems can connect with medication management software, electronic medical records and other clinical information systems. Built on a modern IT platform, the Vigilant Software Suite helps hospitals securely collect, manage and use infusion data. Integration capabilities can help automate workflows by reducing manual data entry and supporting more efficient information exchange. The Vigilant Sentinel infusion supervision software offers a clear, centralized overview of infusions. In a usability study, it was highly rated by intensive care nurses for helping them better organize infusion management, respond more quickly to urgent alarms and plan ahead in their work based on what infusions or syringes would be needed next.2
