A Nurse Story

New series highlights impact of nurses

Fresenius Kabi is proud to be part of Caring with Courage, a powerful film series presented by the International Council of Nurses (ICN), and produced for them by BBC StoryWorks Commercial Productions. The series celebrates the dedication and compassion of nurses worldwide who go beyond treatment to deliver accessible quality care.

Our episode shines a spotlight on homecare nurses, who make it possible for people to receive complex therapies like Home Parenteral Nutrition (HPN) in their own homes – supporting their independence and helping them live life on their terms.

As part of the Fresenius Kabi family, Calea provides essential homecare services for patients on Home Parenteral Nutrition (HPN) in the United Kingdom. At any given time, around 3,600 people in Britain rely on HPN for their nutritional needs.

The film follows Josh, a dedicated HPN nurse in Wales, on his daily rounds. His day begins with breakfast with his family before he visits patients in their homes, offering care and training that empower them to manage their condition independently.

Two patients featured in the film share how they transitioned from hospital to home life after being diagnosed with Crohn’s disease and bowel cancer. Their stories highlight the life-changing impact of care delivered with expertise, empathy, and respect.

We are deeply grateful to Josh, his family, our patients, and the Calea team for their openness and participation in this film – and to the ICN and BBC StoryWorks Commercial Productions for including us in this meaningful series.
