Embracing Diversity, Equal Opportunity, Health, & Safety

Numerous studies and research findings indicate that companies with a diverse workforce have a better understanding of customers and markets, are more creative and innovative, tend to make better decisions, and achieve higher sales.

Our employees are what makes our company valuable. The passion and commitment they bring to their work every day play a major role in what sets us apart.

We believe that our corporate culture makes us stronger and helps us attract, retain, and engage talented employees. That is why we are strongly committed to equal opportunities for all employees, in daily work as well as in recruiting, application, and development processes. We are dedicated to being an inclusive and diverse employer, welcoming all individuals. Our goal is to become an employer of choice by cultivating a modern corporate culture with employees at the center.

As a healthcare company, we recognize that the physical and mental health of our employees is paramount to our success. That is why we have made their health, safety, and well-being a main concern. Naturally, it’s important to provide attractive and market-oriented compensation for our employees and invest in our people with continuing education and advancement opportunities. Furthermore, we support and activate our employees to continue engaging and supporting their communities

Our commitment to employee-related Sustainable Development Goals

With our good corporate citizenship activities, we support these SDGs.

SDG 5 aims to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
To help end all forms of discrimination against women and girls everywhere, we have implemented various measures that ensure diversity and equal opportunity in our own operations and the greater supply chain. These measures include our Code of Conduct, compliance program, and collective agreements. Additionally, we are committed to women’s full and effective participation and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels in political, economic, and public life through diverse teams and female leadership.

SDG 8 promotes sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment, and decent work for all.
Thanks to our decentralized organization structure in different markets, we invest in various locations and promote local innovation. Further, we protect labor rights and promote and secure safe working environments through our OHS (occupational health and safety) activities and the various Codes of Conduct.

SDG 10 aims to reduce inequality within and among countries.
Our codes of conduct ensure that human rights, as well as diversity and equity, are respected not only in our own operations but also throughout the entire supply chain.

Expanding diversity, equity & inclusion

We work to ensure diversity, equal opportunities, and an inclusive workplace, as we believe this leads to better decision-making and progress at every level of our company. To achieve this, we have a team of recruitment specialists that seeks out diverse job candidates and runs various projects, like our program, “Leadership for Women: Boost Your Self-Positioning.” This program helps women strengthen their self-confidence and network across divisions. There are also employee resource groups, like Voices of African Descent, Women’s Voice, and the Pride and Alliance of Asians and Pacific Islanders in the US, which help build inclusion.

Occupational health & safety management

We are responsible not only for the well-being of our patients but also for the health and safety of our employees. Therefore, occupational health and safety (OHS) regulations are applied to all people working at our sites, including contractors and visitors. We have implemented standard operating procedures, guidelines, and other instructions that provide a framework for OHS globally. All ISO 45001-certified sites are required to have an OHS committee in place, and we comply with national OHS requirements in each of our locations.

You can find our occupational health and safety system certificate in our Resource Center page. We welcome any questions on our ISO 45001 policy at EHSpolicies@fresenius-kabi.com.

Work-related injuries

We aim to prevent all work-related accidents and continually improve workplace safety. To achieve this, we have introduced a global management system in accordance with the international ISO 45001 standard.

Accident analysis and risk assessment

OHS risk assessment and accident analysis are the backbone of any safe and healthy workplace. We identify and evaluate potential hazards and risks, implement controls to mitigate those risks, and analyze accidents to determine root causes and prevent future incidents. Using this data, we calculate the Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR) and use it as a performance indicator.

Promoting good health

In addition to comprehensive OHS measures, we promote health wherever possible. We rely on decentralized offerings, which we tailor as precisely as possible to the needs of our employees.
