World Cancer Day: How Fresenius Kabi Supports Cancer Care at Every Step of the Journey

February 4, 2026

Cancer care is never linear. It’s not confined to a moment of diagnosis, a treatment cycle, or a clinical milestone. It is a human journey, shaped by the uniqueness of each person’s needs, circumstances, and support systems. The 2026 World Cancer Day theme, United by Unique, reminds us that every experience with cancer is different, and truly effective care means seeing the person before the patient.

At Fresenius Kabi, we play a meaningful role in this journey. Our team across every business unit work every day to ensure that people facing cancer – and the healthcare professionals who care for them – can rely on continuity, quality, and compassion at every step.

Beyond the Diagnosis

Cancer treatment is demanding, physically, emotionally and socially. Patients often need far more than a single therapy or clinical intervention. Continuity of care matters because it helps people tolerate therapy, maintain strength, reduce complications, and recover with dignity.

Fresenius Kabi contributes to cancer care through essential medicines, infusion technologies, biosimilars, and clinical nutrition, enabling safe, continuous support for patients and clinicians.

This includes support across the entire cancer pathway through:

  • Essential medicines to manage cancer care, symptoms and treatment side‑effects
  • Infusion therapies and devices that enable safe, reliable administration
  • Clinical nutrition solutions designed to help maintain strength and energy
  • Biosimilar medicines and services that expand access to life‑changing therapies
  • Technical expertise and hospital‑level support to keep care running smoothly

More broadly, the Fresenius Group provides cancer care through its specialized operating companies – Helios and Quirónsalud, as well as Fresenius Kabi, focusing on integrated treatment, innovative medical products, and advanced technology. Our employees support individuals affected by cancer in all phases of the disease: from prevention and the initial diagnosis to therapy and home care.

Our Role in Everyday Oncology Care

A holistic view of cancer care spans our four Fresenius Kabi Business Units, each with a distinctive contribution, yet united by a shared purpose.

Pharma

Our Pharma team support patients’ access to essential oncology and supportive care medicines used in hospitals every day. Their work supports symptom management, chemotherapy, pain relief, hydration, and postoperative care, elements that often determine whether a patient can stay on treatment.

Medical Nutrition

In patients at risk of malnutrition or already malnourished, medical nutrition is a critical component of clinical management. Nutrition is not an add‑on to cancer care; it is a medical need. For patients at risk of malnutrition, or already experiencing it, our Medical Nutrition colleagues provide parenteral and enteral nutrition solutions that help people maintain weight, tolerate demanding treatments, and recover better.

Biopharma

Our Biopharma teams advance high‑quality biosimilar medicines that broaden access to biologic therapies worldwide, across multiple disease areas including cancer. Their work reflects a deep commitment to access, reliability and people‑centred innovation – from analytical science and manufacturing to supply, medical education and communication and support services.

MedTech

Our MedTech teams design and deliver infusion technologies, disposables and medical devices that clinicians rely on to administer therapies safely and consistently – shift after shift, setting after setting. Their work protects clinicians, supports workflow, and safeguards the patient experience.

Reliability & Quality

Behind every infusion pump, every dose, every vial or syringe lies the work of thousands of colleagues upholding the highest standards of quality, safety, manufacturing excellence and supply chain reliability.

Only with integrated development, manufacturing and logistics can we ensure that our patients receive what they need –on time, in full, and without interruption.

Why World Cancer Day Matters

United by Unique emphasises that cancer care must be shaped with people, not just for them.

We listen to:

  • Healthcare professionals, to understand clinical realities,
  • Patients and caregivers, to recognize lived experiences and identify needs to better support their journey,
  • Nutritionists, pharmacists, nurses and technicians, to appreciate system pressures
  • Partner organisations, to learn where needs are shifting.

This commitment aligns with the World Cancer Day call for people‑centred care – care that recognises each patient’s unique story, values, and challenges.
