We act today for a better tomorrow

At Fresenius Kabi, sustainability is a responsibility we take seriously. We act today for a better tomorrow. We are committed to making a positive and lasting impact – on our patients, our employees, our planet.

But why does sustainability matter to us? How does it shape our business today and long-term? And how are we turning our ambitions into reality?

Our sustainability approach and ambitions

At Fresenius Kabi, sustainability is a responsibility we take seriously. We act today for a better tomorrow. We are committed to making a positive and lasting impact – on our patients, our employees, and our planet.

Our sustainability ambition serves as the group-wide strategic framework for integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations into our operations. This framework guides our daily actions and shapes how we integrate sustainability into our business.

Environmental Sustainability at Fresenius Kabi

Healthy people need a healthy planet – now and in the future. By reducing the environmental impact of our business activities, we further mitigate our impact on climate change and help protect natural resources.

Energy and Emissions

Producing essential medicines and technologies for infusion, transfusion, and medical nutrition requires energy, especially for water treatment, sterilisation, and cooling. That is why we have defined targets and actions to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions generated by our operations. To systematically reduce the impact of the healthcare sector on climate change, it is crucial to consider the entire value chain.

Water

Alongside water usage and water efficiency, water quality is one of the cornerstones of our commitment to sustainability and product safety. We are dedicated to maintaining stringent water standards, optimising its use, and minimising environmental impact.

Circularity and Waste Reduction

We aim for continuous waste reduction to minimise the resources we use in our products and processes, embedding circular economy principles in our operations and supply chains. We are committed to continuous improvement - always striving for the right balance between sustainability, product quality, and patient safety as our highest priority.

Empowering People

The quality of our products depends on the expertise and commitment of our employees. They ensure that our product quality and the health and well-being of our patients always take centre stage.

To maintain this focus, we aim to provide professional environments where everyone can perform at their best. For us, this includes embracing different backgrounds and perspectives, fostering personal and professional growth, and providing safe and hygienic working conditions. It is also important that our employees have a say. That is why we actively seek their feedback to shape our workplaces according to their needs.

Regarding our Employee Development and Well-being at Fresenius Kabi we pursue the following three main priorities: equal opportunities, empowering employees, and building skills.

Delivering exceptional patient care

At Fresenius Kabi, we strive to provide all patients with the best possible care, which means ensuring our products are safe, effective, and reliable, so healthcare professionals can trust them to improve patient outcomes. This is why we are eagerly committed to quality management and product safety, which is a collaborative effort of our employees, suppliers, patients, and customers. Our commitment to product safety includes product safety systems and risk management, as well as adhering to stringent labeling and product information requirements.

Our culture of integrity, accountability, and transparency

While we uphold integrity and compliance through respecting human rights, nurturing a more sustainable supply chain, and following a zero-tolerance approach to bribery, corruption, and antitrust violations we furthermore act in accordance with our group-wide Fresenius Principles, which include complying with all relevant laws and regulations.

With our human rights program we underscore our commitment to respecting human rights across our operations and global supply chains. We prioritise fair and safe working conditions, the right to freedom of association and collective bargaining, and equal treatment for all, whilst we stand firmly against child labour, forced or exploitative labour, and modern slavery.

Our Commitment to our communities

We believe that true community support begins locally.

Our community engagement is deeply rooted in the voluntary efforts of our employees. Their dedication drives our support for local non-profits, charitable initiatives, and environmental actions like tree planting and clean-up events.

By empowering our people to make a difference, we help build stronger, more resilient communities – creating lasting value for society and our company alike.
