Living Fully: Jonathan’s Journey with Multiple Myeloma and CAR-T Cell Therapy

When Jonathan Gluck was 38 years old, a fall on ice revealed something unexpected: incurable multiple myeloma. With a newborn daughter at home, Jonathan was told he might have just 18 months to live.

Over the next 22 years, he endured seven recurrences, four rounds of radiation, years of immunotherapy, and countless remissions and relapses. His daughter, whom he calls his “joy machine,” and the hope of new treatments kept him moving forward.

In 2023, with options running out, Jonathan’s oncologist recommended CAR-T cell therapy—an advanced treatment that uses a patient’s own T cells to target cancer. After three weeks in the hospital, Jonathan achieved complete remission.

Today, Jonathan is living fully again—enjoying time with his family, writing, and sharing his story of perseverance and hope. He recently published An Exercise in Uncertainty: A Memoir of Illness and Hope, with proceeds supporting cancer research.

At Fresenius Kabi, we are proud to help enable access to advanced therapies like CAR-T cell therapy. Stories like Jonathan’s remind us that what we do matters.
