Imipenem/Cilastatin Kabi is a combination of the antibiotic acting drug imipenem and the dehydropeptidase inhibitor Cilastatin

• Imipenem/Cilastatin Kabi is an intravenous broad-spectrum beta-lactam antibiotic of the carbapenem class. Its bactericidal activity is against a broad spectrum of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including anaerobic pathogens.
• Imipenem/Cilastatin Kabi is a combination of the antibiotic acting drug imipenem and the dehydropeptidase inhibitor Cilastatin, which inhibits the Imipenem degradation by the human enzyme dehydropeptidase. Cilastatin does not have own antibiotic activity.
• An antibacterial agent which can be used in life-threatening conditions

Imipenem/Cilastatin Kabi is indicated for the treatment of the following infections in adults and children 1 year of age and above: 
•    Intra-abdominal infections
•    Lower respiratory tract infections
•    Gynecological infections
•    Urinary tract infections
•    Skin and soft-tissue infections

Treatment of patients with bacteraemia that occurs in association with, or is suspected to be associated with, any of the infections listed above. Consideration should be given to official guidance on the appropriate use of antibacterial agents.

Imipenem/Cilastatin Kabi is not indicated for the treatment of meningitis.
