PreparePlus® PN

PreparePlus® PN is a reliable software program for assessing the compatibility and stability of parenteral nutrition admixtures prescribed for individual patients.
The extensive database compiled over many years supports you in evaluating new compositions. Rather than extrapolations from the literature or stability equations, all stable results given by PreparePlus® PN are based on actual laboratory stability tests using the well established Fresenius Kabi range concept, which tests the stability of components of mixtures within a wide range of volumes, rather than just fixed volumes. This approach gives maximum flexibility for the addition of all admixture components. In addition, the compounding process is facilitated by the generation of worksheets and labels. Documentation of patients data and PN treatment can easily be tracked and recalled.

Compatibility

Admixtures for parenteral nutrition (PN) are very complex in terms of physical and chemical compatibility as they contain a broad range of components in various amounts and numerous combinations. It is not necessarily safe to simply mix all components as prescribed for a nutritionally appropriate prescription. The admixture must also be assessed for compatibility and stability. Therefore the recommendation is to “mix all components (…) only within limits based on reliable information from the manufacturers, specific analytical test and/or the peer-reviewed literature” and further more “to prepare AIO [All-in-one] admixtures under pharmaceutical supervision, following validated guidelines for types and amounts of macro- and micronutrients, under rigorously controlled order and conditions of mixing (standard operation procedures, GMP).” 1). PreparePlus® PN allows you to access data from the results of specific analytical tests carried out by Fresenius Kabi and is a reliable software program for assessing the compatibility and stability of PN admixtures prescribed for individual patients.
