Anaesthesia, needed for most operations, is the administration of a drug and / or a gas to numb the part of the body or to create a state of unconsciousness.

The purpose of anaesthesia is to prevent the patient from feeling pain during a surgical or medical procedure. If indicated, the anaesthesiologist will decide which type of anaesthesia (general, local or regional) to be used and which dosage.
